American Board of Respiratory Diseases in 1988. He has been a
Professor of Medicine and Pulmonology since 2002. His research
interest is in the field of bronchial asthma and COPD. Professor

CURRENT
PROFESSIONAL WORK:
(A). CLINICAL
As a consultant in internal
medicine and pulmonology, I supervise a team of physicians (2 interns, 2
residents, and 2 senior registrars) in diagnosis and management of
patients in the ward and in the clinic. As a pulmonologist, my work
also includes consultations, bronchoscopies, and PFT interpretation.
(B). ACADEMIC
Academic activities as a
University staff include extensive teaching for both undergraduate and
postgraduate students (Diploma, Arab Board and Fellowship), and
participation in Grand Rounds, Topic Updates and Examination Review
Sessions.
(C). MEDICAL RESEARCH
My main field of research is
pulmonary medicine including bronchial asthma and tuberculosis. I
participated in a national tuberculosis survey, (1988-1990) and another
tuberculosis research to study active tuberculosis cases in the Ministry
of Health (MOH) hospital. A major multicenter research was recently done
on asthma control test in Saudi Arabia.

During training I was
frequently involved in teaching of medical students and junior medical
residents. Towards the end of my training period, I became the chief

medical students, interns Arab Board residents and King Saud University
Fellowship in Medicine and in Respiratory diseases, as well as
participating in all postgraduate teaching programs and courses besides
my clinical practice commitments. Currently I am the coordinator for
continuous education in the respiratory division, the program director
for KSU fellowship in Respiratory diseases, and the coordinator of the
committee for establishment of the National Saudi Board in Respiratory
Diseases.
